Please reach us at info@atxdogtrainer.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You should bring a leash, collar or harness, and plenty of treats to reward your dog for good behavior. Our trainers will provide any additional equipment as needed.
Normal drop-off hours are between 7:15 am and 9:00 am. We ask for a 30 minute window so we can make sure all the dogs receive their morning session.
No, sorry. 9:00 am is the cut-off time for dogs enrolled in a program because we often have training sessions and appointments starting soon after.
Normal pick-up hours are between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Unless prior authorization is given, dogs picked up after 6:00 pm are subject to a late pick-up fee of $45.
Add an answer to this item. Normally, no. Early pick-ups can be disruptive and shorten the time we can work with your dog toward reaching the training goals. However, we can make some exceptions with advanced notice for things like vet appointments, weather, or other circumstances.
In most cases, yes. Dogs typically need a lot of consistency when they are acquiring new skills and we prefer them to come to school on consecutive weekdays. This can help minimize confusion, frustration, and backsliding so that you and your dog have the best chance of meeting the training goals.
Yes! We can break up the cost into weekly payments for the duration of your dog’s program.
All dogs are required to have age-appropriate core vaccinations (DHAPP), Rabies, and Bordetella. For the health and safety of all the dogs in our care, we must have your dog’s current vaccination record before they step paw at the facility.
On any given day we have 8 to 12 dogs staying at our facility and work with up to 14. This includes dogs enrolled in training who are staying at Howl N Woof Dog Daycare.
We understand that life happens and sometimes people have to cancel an appointment. If you have to cancel, we require 48 hours notice of the appointment. Cancellations within 48 hours may, at our discretion, result in a cancellation fee
Always bring high-value treats to drop off and pick up. You might have to wait a few minutes, and it can be a good time to practice your dog’s Pattern Games.
Variety of long-lasting chews (frozen marrow bones, bully sticks, collagen chews, cheek rolls, duck/chicken feet, No-Hide chews, etc). Please do not bring rawhide! Rawhide is not fully digestible, can cause blockages, and/or be a choking hazard. We will not give dogs rawhide products. Period. If you’re unsure what type of chew your dog will like, we do have a variety of high-quality chews available at a fixed cost of $5 plus tax per chew..
You’re also welcome to bring your dog’s favorite toy and a blanket that smells like home, but please do not bring anything of sentimental value.
Rest breaks are important for the learning process and to teach dogs how to regulate. In between individual or group social and training sessions, the dogs will be crated. This amounts to a few hours throughout the day. While in their crates, the dogs have free access to water, a kong or other stuffable food item, and a chew if you desire. The dogs also have blankets or a crate pad. We do everything we can to try to make them comfortable.
Aside from some really good treats that your dog loves, we recommend holding off on getting gear.
We accept puppies as young as 12 weeks with age-appropriate vaccinations.
Positive reinforcement training is a training method that involves rewarding desirable behavior with treats, affection, or other positive reinforcements. This encourages the dog to repeat the behavior in the future.
The length of time it takes to train a dog depends on the type of training and the needs of the dog. Some basic obedience training can be completed in a few weeks, while behavior modification can take several months or longer.
