In most cases, these are the first steps on your dog's journey. Understanding behavior and having clear, realistic goals are key components to any Training and Behavior Modification Plan. Every dog and puppy must also attend an individually scheduled Evaluation Day. This required step helps ensure your dog can safely and effectively learn at our facility and allows us to formulate a more personalized plan for your dog and your goals.
During the Consult, you and your dog meet with us at our facility for 30-45 minutes. We will observe your dog's behavior, discuss the history and progression of the behavior, and figure out the most important goals for the training and behavior modification. This step is required for dogs over 6 months old.
Please be advised that we use crates for the dogs' rest periods. Dogs must be able to settle in a crate well enough (some barking is okay) to attend Day School.
During the Evaluation Day, we will safely test some of the behavior elements we discussed during the Behavior Consultation. This may include, but are not limited to, going on a hike to unwind, evaluate excitement and general learning state, and test reactions to other dogs and people.
We will also observe your dog's ability to settle in a crate in our climate controlled building. Your dog's safety, physical and mental, is our number one priority.
These programs are appropriate for dogs needing help with general manners and mild behavior issues. If you are unsure if these programs are appropriate to meet your goals, we can discuss those goals and the programs at the Behavior Consult.
